What
is the Advanced Thinkers Forum?
The Advanced Thinker’s
Forum (ATF) is a network of individuals interested in the problem
of large-scale change and its consequences. This network believes
that the most relevant dialogues on this subject need to happen
in the space that falls between traditional business, technology,
and social disciplines. Each member of the Advanced Thinker’s
Forum is an individual who has significant expertise and experience
in some aspect of this problem and is committed to exploring how
their insights intersect with others who approach large-scale organizational
change from different perspectives.
ATF attendees have backgrounds in many areas including Learning,
Knowledge Management, Change, Performance, Collaboration, and Organization
Development. The first live Advanced Thinkers forum, co-sponsored
by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, convened at Harvard
University in May 2003.
The second Advanced Thinker’s Forum co-sponsored
by IBM Learning Services was held at the IBM Executive Conference
Center in Palisades, NY in November 2003.
Both of these events provided attendees with an opportunity to expand
their personal networks through rich conversations. The forums are
designed to generate collective models based on interdisciplinary
perspectives, shared intellectual property that enables individuals
to enhance their work with their companies or clients through their
mutual learning. The third live forum is scheduled for October 2004
in Westchester, NY.
On-going dialogue among the Advanced Thinker’s Forum members
takes place in a collaborative website facility provided by Communispace
Corporation and through small live events. This dialogue continues
the generative conversations and connections begun at the live events
to help the community sustain itself.
The Advanced Thinker’s Forum is managed by Snider Associates
and
a community of individual consultants and practitioners exploring
the challenge of facilitating and supporting large-scale change.
The
criteria for participation is:
1. Clearly identifiable experience and knowledge relevant to the
mission of the Advanced Thinker’s Forum.
2.
High level of creative capability and an active intellectual interest
in collaborating on this mission.
3.
Recommended by an ATF participant who feels that they would be willing
to spend 4 hours on a bus ride with the person they recommend.
